Adoption and Attachment Services

Introduction

We are pleased to inform you of the services to Adopted Children and their families that are  offered at the Leaside Therapy Centre.  We know that families experience both joys and challenges post-adoption.  Although we wish families much joy with their adopted child, we know that some families may struggle with challenging and hurtful behaviour from their adopted child. If you are parents or know parents experiencing challenges we offer assistance and hope. We are therapists knowledgeable and experienced in attachment and trauma issues which often are the struggles for adopted children. Such insecure adopted children may be aggressive, manipulative, underachieving and mistrusting of relationships. We will help parents understand the feelings that underlie this difficult behavior and offer interventions to be more effective parents and happier families. Our goal is to assist adoptive parents and children to develop trust and security in their relationships and to help adopted children develop greater personal self-esteem, trust and self-regulation.
