Hazel Zemel, M.S.W., R.S.W., Psychotherapist
HOW?
Choosing the right Therapist for you and your family can be very confusing. Who is best for me/us? What should I be looking for to find the person who will guide me and/or my family to a better / positive /empowering/hopeful place where together we find solutions to the challenges and problems we are facing? Time is of the essence… too little time together…too much information out there….
WHAT?
What will be the best match for you and your needs? What might you look for? A therapist who seems to ‘speak to you’ and feels ‘right’… A therapist with experience in working with people like you and problems like yours. A therapist who can see you as a unique individual and understands your relationships. A therapist who enjoys getting to know your struggles and excites in developing new solutions that suit your needs.
WHO?
I am a Therapist with over 30 years experience of working and living in 3 different countries with a wide range of people and situations. I believe that people want to be the “Best” partner, parent, student, employee that they can be, but things go astray. I have a deep appreciation of your story and an ability to get to the ‘heart of the matter’ quickly. You will find me compassionate, thorough and engaged. I believe that the connection between therapist and client helps open new avenues and solutions and I bring a warm and open presence to the work. I believe that in finding out ‘what and who else you can be’ and your children ‘can also be’ infuses the family with a new hope and energy.
My track record of success speaks to my skills. Understanding your situation allows me to assist you in getting to where you need to be. My success as a therapist crosses socio-economic boundaries and cultures. Creative and curious , I am appreciated for my abilty to “think out of the box” and my commitment to you and your family. Humour is a big part of the therapy and the ability to laugh together allows a new mindfulness and energy into the process.
WHEN?
NOW! Starting therapy when you are feeling stuck, anxious, worried, depressed, or even unsettled, stressed or angry about your life and your important relationships allows you to bring a motivation towards improvement. If you have moved to a new city/country and your supports are no longer there; if you have gone through a life changing event- birth, graduation, marriage, divorce, re –partnering, retirement, death – and need help to understand its impact and get support to ‘move on’; if you suddenly find that your relationships have too much conflict and too little intimacy; if you feel it is time to address a trauma from your past; if you feel you have gotten ‘off-track’ with your dreams and goals; if you just want to ‘talk through ‘ some of your ideas… NOW is the best time to begin.
